Bioinformatics Consultant

Responsibilities

  • Execute on client Bioinformatics data processing and analysis projects across a wide variety of domains in genomics and bioinformatics
  • Execute on projects in processing and analysis of DNA and RNA
  • Data type examples include DNAseq, RNAseq, MicroArray, GWAS, WES
  • Implement and/or tailor best practices for creation of script-based pipelines and data analysis methods
  • Maintenance of and improvements to existing client genomic/transcriptomic pipelines, bioinformatics tools, and related software and systems
  • Deliver scientific reports and presentations to various internal and external stakeholders
  • Help scope new and existing client projects

 

 

Required Skills

  • Educational level attained in 1) a biology-related field and/or 2) computer science or related field
  • Relevant years of experience in academic research and/or commercial environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and confidence in writing code in Python or R
  • Demonstrated experience in using cloud platforms (ex – AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Demonstrated experience in using containerization platforms ( ex – Docker)
  • Demonstrated experience in workflow/pipeline management systems (ex – SnakeMake, NextFlow)
  • Demonstrated experience in single cell RNAseq data pre-processing, processing and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in bulk RNAseq data pre-processing, processing and analysis
